Product Description
From \Jingle Bells" to ""Ho Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum"

It never snows in the Florida Keys, but as every Parrothead knows, Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas Day 1946. His Caribbean folk tunes have always had a festive air to them, and his Coral Reefer Band tackle these holiday songs in their usual laidback style. Buffett turns out both traditional carols ("Jingle Bells" with a few tropical ad-libs) and his own myth-building originals ("A Sailor's Christmas," "Merry Christmas, Alabama"). This may not be the traditional Christmas fare of chestnuts roasting on an open fire, but for those who enjoy ocean breezes and "wasting away" to this most successful beach bum, Christmas Island is exactly what the cruise director ordered. --Rob O'Connor

This is quintessential Jimmy Buffett but with a Christmas beat. I love the change of pace and humour of this CD at Christams time. If you are a Parrothead I think you'll enjoy it too.

My husband and I LOVE Jimmy Buffett and we had the chance to "introduce" good friends of ours to Jimmy and the Parrothead life a few summers ago in Chicago. Now that they are hooked we felt it was time to convert their Christmas songs as well. We sent this to them as a pre-Christmas gift and they loved the songs! Their two year old and six year old even got in on picking their favorites:) We are happy that we can spend the holidays with great family and friends on our own "Christmas Island" every year and even have a soundtrack to go with the memories. Thanks Jimmy!

"Wasting Away on Christmas Island'

Jimmy Buffett has pretty much made a career out of sheer affability, so who better to tap into the merriment and good cheer of the holiday season? In a Florida Keys kinda way, I mean? Or if you're not gonna get too picky about actual locales, a Hawaiian sort of way. (He does, after all, throw in "Mele Kalikimaka" into the margarita mix, but why not? It's all "island escapism" and it sounds good to me. Overall, I like my Christmas music with some straightforward tunes mixed in with the novelty numbers, and luckily, Jimmy gives folks like me a nod or two with, say, his version of the Lennon/Ono "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and a self-composition in the classic Buffett mode, "A Sailor's Christmas," still not the heaviest stuff in the world but with a bit more substance than, say, the umpteenth tricked up version of "Jingle Bells" that you've heard in your life . But as umpteenth versions of "Jingle Bells" go, Jimmy's take on the holiday classic is as inventive and infectious as you're gonna find, any time of year). So I'm not complaining. Fun is part and parcel of what the holidays are all about. And, to a great extent, what Jimmy Buffett is all about. He doesn't disappoint.

Jimmy Buffett has created a joyful holiday album for those who live in warm climates.
Strongly recommend even to those who reside in cold regions because he brings the warmth of the holidays to everyone.
